Father's Day Recap, Using Our Words, & the Summer Solstice

As we anticipated, Father's Day weekend was busy with lots of fun adventures!!! Friday was a nice outdoor pool party at Nana's house with Granddaddy and Granny. Granddaddy really loved his new tea mug that Lexi decorated especially for him! Saturday we went over to Grandma JuJu's for some homemade fried chicken and biscuits. Yummy yummy yummy!!! Grandma JuJu got Brandon a frame with the most adorable picture of Lexi in it for a Father's Day gift. It is now sitting on our mantle. I am so in love with it!!! Sunday Lex and I had one last surprise for Daddy. After letting him sleep in until a whopping 7am, he woke up to a fresh cup of coffee, chicken biscuit, and Lexi all dressed up in a "Daddy's Little Sweetie" onesie. We did nothing for a few hours, then headed over to the pool for a relaxing day of sun and fun. Uncle Cookie spent the whole day with us, and we all had a blast! When we had our fill of the sun, we went back home, and I prepared Daddy's very favorite meal- Calvin's chicken, yellow rice, green beans, and mac n cheese. Calvin's chicken is a specialty of the Rhoton household. It is super easy and super boring, but for some reason Brandon LOVES it! The chicken is simply baked and then topped with grilled pineapple, grilled ham, and melted provolone cheese. We made up the name Calvin for a reason neither one of us can remember, and it has stuck ever since. Happy 1st Father's Day to the absolute #1 Daddy in the whole entire world!!!! Lexi is one lucky girly poo.

On an equally exciting note, we are finnnnnally getting our air conditioning fixed tomorrow (knock on wood). The appointment is set with the air people, and they are supposed to be at the house between 8 and 12. I am so excited about this that I could literally cry. I don't think we could have stood one more day of the heat.

I think it's time to mention that we have our first series of words that Lexi repeats over and over with what seems to be purpose. I am pretty sure "ada" came first, but it's debatable. She will look right at Brandon and say "adadadadada" for ten minutes. It is so so cute in that little tiny baby voice. She will also randomly say "hey" and "mama". These are not as consistent as "ada". This morning I put Brandon on speakerphone while I was driving to work. As soon as she heard his voice, out came the repeated "adadadadadada". I just love it! About an hour ago, I heard from down at the school that same little tiny voice saying, "maaaaaaama maaaaama" accompanied with little pitter patter on hands and feet down the hallway. She had taken off again down the hall and was coming to see her maaaaaama. Of course I obliged her with several hugs and kisses and a short little game of peek-a-boo.

Guess that's about it. Hope everyone has a Happy Summer Solstice Day!!!
