SO much to update on. It has been a very busy week!!!
First, I would like to ask everyone to pray HARD for my dear friend Leigh. Her mother has just found out that the cancer we thought was gone has actually returned. She is determined to fight and beat this once and for all. Please pray for Leigh and her mom.
Going back to last Sunday, we had our first annual Donut Party. I was lucky enough to win a donut maker in the Dirty Santa game at the Jones family Christmas party this past year. My sweet cousin Zoe was pretty upset about us leaving with the donut maker, so we planned a party. She is a very busy girl and informed us she would not be available until late February. So, we planned our donut party for February 20th. What a fun party it was!! We made homemade donuts and homemade icing. We had sprinkles, coconut, chocolate chips, cocoa powder- the whole schebang. It was awesome! Zoe and I had so much fun making the donuts, and Uncle Brent, Lindsey, Baker, Brandon, and Lexi had a blast playing and visiting. Baker is getting so big now, and he is just such a handsome little man.
Sunday was also Izabelle's 3rd birthday. Don't know how my Pooh Bear is already 3. We sure miss her and really wish we could've seen her on her birthday. We haven't visited with her since December. It's so sad.
Tuesday Lexi had her 4 month check up at the doctor. She now weighs in at 12 lbs. and 7 oz. and is 24 1/2 inches long. Her weight is in the 30th percentile, and her height is in the 50th percentile. Dr. Malone says she is growing perfectly, ahead of schedule in fact.
During her 4 month check up, we had to give her a second round of shots. Someone should have warned us! She still has not recovered. I thought the worst part would be the actual needle going in. OH NO! She has been so sick for the past 3 days. It is absolutely heartbreaking. Tuesday and Wednesday night, we literally got a combined 3 hours of sleep. She was so congested that every time she would lay down, she couldn't breathe and would wake up. We tried everything. She just felt so bad that all she wanted was to lay on our shoulder and whine. I would have done anything to make her feel better. Last night (Thursday) was actually a little better. She is starting to clear up somewhat, so she slept better. Now the congestion is making it's way down her throat, and she has acquired a nasty cough. Also, she has coughed and whined so much that she has lost her voice. Completely heartwrenching. I am seriously reevaluating the whole vaccine plan. My poor baby will not suffer like this again. Mark my words.
One good thing we found out during our doctor visit was that we can now give Lexi baby food and water!!! I have been waiting on this day for so long! She has been staring at food like she is going to attack it for a few weeks now which let us know she is really ready for more than her formula. We broke into the peaches and applesauce that Nana gave her. Result- she hates it. I had in mind this adorable scenario where she would make a huge mess but love every second of eating some delicious mushy fruit. This is so not what happened. Every time we give her a bite she makes the worst face and even gagged a few times. Haha! Oh, sweet child. Brandon and I were laughing so hard by the end of it! Photos below- the face tells it all. Seriously Lauren, if you want to get me on my soapbox, just bring up vaccinations. I made the mistake of asking someone how vaccines might relate to autism one time before Baker ever got any and she scared me so much that I have NEVER gotten his reccommended vaccines at the same time. I have always split them up. The doctors and nurses kind of always give me a lecture about it and how they are totally safe..blah blah blah...my suggestion is for you to never let her get more than 2 at a time. He got 3 at a time once (when I was being brave) and he was SO sad for days too. I said never again.
