Lucy Turns 2, Swimming with Sam, the Zoo, some Videos, & a Dr. Update

Last Saturday was our sweet baby cousin Lucy Claire's 2nd birthday party. She is such a little doll! You can already tell Lexi and her are gonna be the best of buds growing up. They are just too cute together

After the party we met Camden, Michelle, Thomas, and baby Sam at our new hotspot- Mom's pool. We all had tons of fun splashing around with the babies and playing ping pong. Lex and Sam played in the Pack n Play for a while. This actually consisted of very little playing and more of Lexi crawling all over Sam while he layed there helpless. So funny! Poor little Sam. Lex is such a cougar going for the younger man and all. By the way, I love that we are at the age now that a day with friends means we gather with the babies and laugh at them interacting. Their precious little souls just make my heart melt.

Sunday was more swimming. It never gets old. Mom, Mike, Granny and Jan joined us. More of the same- sun, fun, laughter. Love love love it!

Lexi has more big news to report- she can STAND all by herself! That's right. She is standing. She still has to hold on to something for balance, but she is definitely upright. I can hardly believe my eyes when I see it. It is so astounding to me how fast they pick up on things. I have watched her progress so much in these last few months. She has gone from being a precious baby newborn to such a big girl. I know that the kids at daycare have a huge influence on her, and I am so grateful she has them to learn from. They are constantly running around and playing, and it gives Lex that little extra urge to want to try to be a big kid too. She can't stand to sit and watch them, so she's constantly pushing herself to do more. It's a beautiful thing.

Lexi also had her first whole banana the other day. I walked to the back to say hello and totally busted Mrs. Mita giving Lexi a banana! She was absolutely loving it!!! It was actually perfect for her because it was just mushy enough for her to mash and swallow. On second thought, maybe it wasn't her first whole banana...

Tuesday was super exciting for everyone at Perfect Puzzle Preschool. However, it was especially exciting for Lexi and Mama. Lexi got to go on her very first real school field trip, and I got to chaperon!! Demita rented a van for all the little kiddos, and we headed off to the zoo. Luckily the zoo is only about a mile from the preschool, so it worked out perfect. They all had such a blast!!! I couldn't believe how much fun Lex had. She has always loved a good outing, but she really really enjoyed the zoo. She actually payed attention to the animals. When the monkeys would make noises, she would make noises back at them. I was so impressed. The orangutans were her very favorite. They were big enough and moved slow enough for her to easily follow them and keep up. She would kick those little feet and swing those little arms with so much excitement! The rain came in around lunch, so we didn't get a chance to ride the train. We will save that for our next trip. Daddy wanted to be there for Lex's first train ride anyway. Overall, a fantastic field trip! I can't wait to take her back!!

Yesterday the poor girl had a big red spot on her face. I originally thought she had bumped her head on something as she does about 4000 times a day. When it didn't go away for several hours, I got a little worried. I called the doctor and just to be safe they asked that she come in. Brandon met us there. Turns out she was fine. She is apparently about to break several teeth through. The doctor said that she has a nerve running from her gums to right up by her ears. That nerve must be aggravated causing her to rub her face and ears a lot (hints the redness). We had no idea she was finally teething. She's been gnawing on those fingers since the day she was born, so we didn't think anything different was going on. Sweet little thing never even got grouchy.

They also weighed her while she was at the doctor. She now weighs a whopping 16 pounds! Haha. She is still so incredibly tiny. I asked Dr. Malone how her weight compared and was she growing good. He assured me she is doing great and that he growth pattern looks perfect. He said she is in the 25th percentile of weight now and the 50th percentile for height. She's just gonna be our tiny girl forever it looks like. As long as she's healthy, I am one happy Mommy.

Another exciting Rhoton announcement- we FINALLY joined the world of technology and got iPhones! We have really been trying to make our blackberrys last, but it was just not happening anymore. We also hated T-Mobile and couldn't wait to switch from them! They have the absolute worst service ever, and we were really tired of receiving messages hours after they were sent. Anyway, we are super excited about the new iPhones because we can finally do "facetime". This is where we can chat with each other live from phone to phone. This is especially important since Lexi is learning new stuff daily. Daddy, Mama, and Nana won't miss a thing! We can also video really good now! Here's a few we've captured in the last few days.

I guess that's about it. Everyone have a safe 4th of July weekend. You know where to find us if you need us! :)
