Every year for many, many years now my mom's whole side of the family takes off to the beach for a 4 day weekend of craziness, laughter, fun, sun, and more craziness. This year proved to be no different.
Brandon, Lexi, and I drove down Friday. Brandon and I both have a special place in our heart for Destin. Brandon's dad lived there for much of his life. Also, most of you probably remember Brandon and I lived there for a little more than 4 months in 2006. It was BY FAR the best best best summer EVER!!! We say all the time that if it weren't for our families, we would definitely call Destin home.
Anyway, we were the last to arrive and were so excited to see that we had somehow managed to acquire the master bedroom for the weekend. I have the best Granny! The first night we splashed around in the pool for a few minutes before Granddaddy and Granny prepared our annual shrimp and scallop pasta dinner. I, of course, eat zero seafood, but I heard it was the best yet. The next day we spent hanging out at the ocean and by the pool. Little Lexi swam like a fish. She would pat her hands on the water and laugh like crazy. She splashed water all over her little face and didn't care one bit. She would also sit on the edge of pool and "fall" into the pool for me to catch her. She is so brave, which is making us extremely nervous! That night Connor showed off his sushi preparation skills. He made us some deliciously scrumptious California rolls with scallops and tuna. (Again, I avoided the seafood.). The third day was much the same. Lots of fun splashing and playing. Brandon somehow talked me into going down to the ocean and getting in. I think he may regret that decision, seeing as how he was bit by a jellyfish. Poor Brandon has the worst luck. I was super excited when we opted for Chinese take-out on the third night! Nothing like a little Chinese chicken after a couple of seafood nights. Monday morning we packed up and left Destin. It always depresses me so much to leave. This is our routine-
1. I get in a sad mood and usually even cry. 2. Brandon attempts to cheer me up.
3. It doesn't work.
4. Brandon then promises me that one day we will move there permanently.
5. I am happy again.
A few snapsnots from the vaca~
We got home around 2 that afternoon, and Uncle Chocolate Chip Cookie drove up to hang out with us for the day. He filled us in on all of his T-town shananagans, and we played Yahtzee. Back to life as usual. :)
Sooooooo...................
ITS OFFICIAL- LEXI CAN CRAWL!!!!!!!
She has finally decided that up on her hands and knees is a tad bit easier than the army scoot she was using. She had actually started to develop blisters on the inside of her big toes. I guess that's when she decided to find another way. It's so adorable to see her crawling around. She adds a little bounce to the crawl and with every movement comes a big smile. She absolutely loves being able to get from place to place. With each month that passes I declare that this is my favorite stage, but really this time- this is my favorite stage.
I never posted any pics from Memorial Day, so here ya go. I absolutely love Lexi's little American outfit. So precious!
