As March came to a close and April began, we headed to Fort Morgan, Alabama for Alexis Rainey Rhoton's very first beach trip! Fort Morgan isn't our usual beach destination, but this condo was offered to us for free. Can't turn that down! Brandon, Lexi, and I left on Thursday the 31st at about 9am. What is supposed to be about a 5 hour drive ended up taking us a solid 7 1/2 hours. We are such rookies at this whole baby thing. Lexi was actually very good in the car. It wasn't until about hour 7 that she started to really want out of her seat. We settled into the condo and immediately took Lex out to the ocean. The beach and sand dunes of Fort Morgan were actually very beautiful. The water left a little to be desired.
I couldn't wait to stick Lexi's little toesies in the sand and see how she reacted. She was a bit annoyed with the sun being in her face, but otherwise seemed to enjoy it very much. She would pat her feet on the sand and wiggle her toes down until they were completely covered. So adorable.
That night we opted to stay in and rest. After a quick trip to walmart, out came the Pack N Play and off to bed we went.
The next morning we packed up the 87,000 things Lex needed for her day at the beach and headed out. Daddy put up Lexi's new beach tent with the help of some really nice Wisconsin guys. As soon as the tent was up, Lex was out! She napped for a good 2 hours. She was in Heaven!
When she woke up, she was all smiles!
We played a little longer before going back in. Shortly after, Mom and Mike arrived! Lexi was of course thrilled to see her Nana. She also had quite the crush on Mike. We stayed in again for dinner. Mom whipped us up some eggs with pepperjack cheese, sausage, cheese grits, and biscuits. This turned out to be our staple meal for the trip! So yummy!
Saturday was another beautiful day at the ocean. We did all the usual wonderful vacation things- playing, relaxing, eating, napping, tanning, etc. I put Lexi in her famous tutu bathing suit on this day. I have been waiting forever for her to wear this adorable pink bathing suit. Michelle and I found it at Target several months ago, and I could not wait to put little Lex in it!
On Saturday afternoon, we got dressed and drove to the actual Fort Morgan. It is an old Civil War fort. I didn't expect too much, but it turned out to be super cool. The old brick was absolutely gorgeous! I wish I had a good party to throw there. Brandon and Mike got all into the history of the place, while Mom and I got in a great photo session.

Sunday morning we went back to the ocean for one last day. Lexi got her usual nap, and the guys played football, while Mom and I layed out. We dug Lexi a hole in the sand, and she was so happy! She people watched for hours.
We left around 1 determined to make in home in less than 7 1/2 hours! Lexi went to sleep as soon as we got in the car, and didn't wake up until 4 hours later! With only one quick stop, we were home by 6! Woo hoo! What a BLAST this trip was! I cannot wait to go back!!!
