WIth 2010 coming to a close, I figured it would be cool to take a look back. WOW! WHAT A YEAR!!!
January started with an amazing ski trip to Park City, and a fun celebration for Brandon's 28th birthday! A week or so later we found out we were pregnant and the whirlwind really began!!! We were SOOOOO excited and could hardly imagine having to wait 40 whole weeks to meet our precious angel! As the cold weather started to fade, Brandon and I (and baby in the belly, of course) made several trips to Destin to visit Pooh Bear. Taking off for the weekend to Florida is exactly what every pregnant woman needs and deserves! May 9th was very special as Brandon and I celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary. We opted to skip the old tradition of eating the top layer of cake. It looked nasty after a full year in the freezer. May 10th was also very special, as this was the day we found out our little angel was a girl! Alexis Rainey Rhoton would be her name. August brought my 26th birthday and THE baby shower! A special thank you is needed to Beth, Aunt Tana, and MIchelle for the most amazing baby shower! A beautiful setting at the Tutwiler Hotel, delicious food, an adorable cake, and wonderful people all made for such a unforgettable day! September we were really starting to get excited and thinking baby Lexi could be here any day. However, it proved to be the hottest September ever and no baby came. Lexi's due date of October 10 came and went and stiiiiiill no baby. With my FULL approval, our doctor decided to induce. After spending the night in the hospital on the 13th, baby Alexis was born the following day, October 14, 2010 at 4:09 PM weighing 7 lbs. 3 oz. and 20 inches in length. She was PERFECT!!! :) So many people came by the hospital to meet her, and it really showed Brandon and I how lucky we are to have such great people around us. 3 days after she was born we were discharged and headed home with our angel girl. Settling into home life with a newborn was every bit as fun as we had dreamed. We were SO lucky to have such an easy, happy baby! At 10 days old she had her first big outing when Mommy, Daddy, and Uncle Chip took her to the pumpkin patch. The people loved her so much that we left with about 50 baby pumpkins they had given her. Haha! Thanksgiving was lots of fun, and Lexi had a chance to meet all of her extended family on both sides. Toward the end of November I finally talked myself into letting Lexi spend the night with her Nana. Brandon and I had a wonderful date night, and Foofie didn't miss us one bit! In mid December Lexi had her 2 month check up, and the report was great! She was now 9 lbs. 13 oz. and 22 1/2 inches. They grow too fast!!! Christmas was every bit as fun as we thought it would be. She looked adorable as our little elf on Christmas morning. Lexi must have been a veeeery good girl, because she sure racked up on gifts! The girl has more clothes and toys than I've ever seen in my life!
So here we are at the end of 2010 ready to welcome in a new year. I imagine 2011 will be full of many milestones and memories. Can't wait to experience each and every one of these special moments. A cheers to 2011. Happy New Year!
